Not Happy…

Not happy at all…

Seriously, losing The Daily Show is like never having headphones again, or the technology for non stick frying pans just disappears, or the ability to pause live TV just goes away…

Jon Stewart/The Daily Show is an integral part of my life… When my wife and I get into bed, we actually say “Do you wanna watch our friends tonight?” Our friends, Jon (and Stephen Colbert, now Larry Willmore) are counted on to put a smile on our face, to inform us on “what’s going on in the world” and to help us wind down after a busy day…

There were many times I would read the news (I rarely watch TV news anymore, but that’s another blog), and would think “Can’t wait to see what Jon says about this…” Who’s gonna fill that void?? #bigshoes

Some people say he was “left wing”, and yes I think he leaned that way, but everyone gets equal treatment on The Daily Show, Democratic, Republican and for sure the “media”. (Don’t believe me, see what he did to Brian Williams Monday night)… He was the one, shouting at power, pointing out hypocrisy and spoke for most of us in the “middle”. You know the middle, the 80% of us who fall in the middle of the extreme left or right views that get most of the ink and airtime in our current world… I always felt if I met him, he’d be a normal guy… He had my trust, and I counted on him for perspective, for truth, and doing it in a way that would make you smile AND think…

So here are my 5 favorite Jon Stewart moments… (warning… some strong language here and there)

#1 – The first show after 9/11, he laid himself out personally… And with New York being my home state, this really hit home…

#2 – 7 minutes and 30 seconds to get to a really easy punch line… This is PURE genius…

#3 – The Rally to Restore Sanity… 200,000 people at the Washington Mall right before the 2010 mid terms… Yes it was 2 hours of comedy, Ozzy Osbourne and Cat Stevens… But in the last 12 minutes, he made such a BEAUTIFUL speech about America… The Lincoln tunnel part is amazing…

So I will enjoy the months we have left… But when it’s all over, and the “next guy” gets behind that desk… That’s an awfully big chair, and I don’t know if someone can “fill the seat”…

BTW… “Rosewater”… Jon’s first film as director, watched it last weekend… Very good film.. check it out…
