The Quarantine Anniversary (is that a thing?)

So it's our 28th anniversary today. If you read my earlier post this week, you know what we are NOT doing together. But as I sit here this morning, my wedding vows came into my head. And was thinking how they look, today with Covid-19 and "Stay In Place/Stay Safe" Order in effect.

Decide What To Do With The Time

This famous quote from Tolkien has been rattling around in my brain for the better part of a week. It squeezed out of my mouth in Sunday’s sermon, perhaps the last sermon for a while as we all hunker down for COVID-19 contingencies. It is one of the better sentiments on crisis one can internalize.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
